Vision Control.  The foreground desk contained the operational controls to adjust iris and 'sit' on the cameras.  Behind those operators were the camera control units for the EMI 2001s in the blue racking which enabled more detailed adjustments to be made - particularly during camera line-up.  The apparatus or maintenance room is behind the racking.

As someone working today where there is one vision controller (or VO) adjusting the iris, sit and colour balance on 10 or more cameras - and possibly one studio engineer to back him/her up if you are lucky - I find it extraordinary that so many people were involved in keeping only four cameras looking at their best.  There appear to be places for several people to sit at this desk.  Please could someone let me know what each of them did?
